Throughout the year creating this series my photographic vision has been evolving with the aid of other artists styles influencing my photographic work. My photographs changed over the year whilst I was deciding what to do for my photo series. I started looking into Ben VonWong and his elemental surreal imagery which involved fire within the landscape which I attempted at one stage but was decided against once the infra-red photography technique was discovered in the work of Richard Mosse and his documentary photography in Africa. The wide panoramic format was implemented to add an additional interest to the display of images.

The ideology for my photographic concept this year has been developed from the combination of many artists ideas. My final concept is the somewhat typologistic imagery of drains and waterways in the infra-red colour spectrum. These photos show the industrialization within the environment similar to that of Robert Adams’ work. My photographic display is made up of panoramic images along with square images which are quite topologic in appearance like that of Becher and Becher’s work. The styling of my images and their surrealistic nature is able to be seen within Benjamin Von Wong’s series of work. Overall my images provide a contrasy bright pop of colour which attracts you toward to image content more deeply I believe than if the image had normal tones which are seen by the human eye.  High clarity and almost grunge like styling also remains a constant feature of my work in this series of images.

Bioloical Balance

Photographs in this collection depict the biological imbalances within our environments which have been caused by humans. This series is a photographic collection with the involvement of scientific equipment to aid in the presentation of the display. The theme of human impact on biological processes is inspired by my respect for the environment and the perfection and order by which natural processes occur. As a biology student my knowledge of nature further drives the passion for the images in this display. This display is designed to cause the viewers to reflect on their actions toward the environment. The element of science is in reference to how science can both make and break what nature has provided. The images display our actions as humans in a visually appealing sense, so much so that they draw the viewer in to decipher the true reasoning behind the images.  By putting forth such imagery I am not forcing a viewer to take a particular opinion, however, letting them develop thoughts about a topic of which they may have never thought about or questioned. My body of work, like science, aims to find out something new, in this case it will be how people will respond to my work.
